Don't be afraid of the space between your dreams and reality. If you can dream it, you can make it so.

Helsinki, 10 degrees

This post is seriously overdue so I thought this would be a great opportunity to share it with you. About a month ago I went to the opening of a new place in Helsinki, and I thought I would share the pictures from the opening. It was actually the opening of a new part of an already existing place - cultural factory Korjaamo. The new part is an extension to the cultural factory and it's called the Third Space (Kolmas tila), which means it is something between work and home. I quite like the concept of the name and once you see the photos, I'm sure you think so too!

Life has taught us that love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction.

As the move is finally secured, and my life stands in front of a big change, it feels only natural that I ask you readers for some opinions about the direction of this blog.

It is just as disastrous to have the wrong accessories in your room as it is to wear sport shoes with an evening dress.

This weekend has been pleasantly sunny here in Helsinki - perfect for some fair and exhibition visits! This Saturday I visited one of the top 5 fairs in Finland called Habitare which is concentrated on furniture, interior decoration and design. I was able to convince my better half to join me so we spent a great day going through the interesting novelties that were presented at the fair! Join me in these pictures and see some of the specialties Helsinki's Habitare had to offer this year.

A gold mine of experience

Helsinki, 15 degrees

Last Thurday I had the chance to yet again experience something unique: the Tytyri Limestone Mine Museum in Lohja 100 meters beneath ground level! Thanks to my work I got to get acquainted with one of the few mines still operating in Finland. The reason why my workplace arranged this opportunity to see the mine was that it has lately been on display in international media thanks to the fact that it has a so called pop down restaurant, operated by Helsinkian restaurant Muru. You can learn more about that by watching the video clip I've attached to this blog post.

I paint myself because I am so often alone and because I am the subject I know best.

Helsinki, 15 degrees

I've been happy to notice that the New York Fashion Week doesn't only offer glam, glitter and bling bling, but also folk art inspired clothing. Nonoo's spring/summer 2013 collection shows outfits that remind me of Frida Kahlo with their bright colors and headbands. I think one can see a resemblance between Frida Kahlo's thoughts about painting herself and everyday fashion. After all, don't we all want to show our personality outwards? Aren't we all painting ourselves with the clothing we choose to wear?

Florence and the Machine was inspired by Frida Kahlo as well and titled a song after a painting by her called What The Water Gave Me.

A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.

Helsinki, 19 degrees

To function as a contrast to the rock spirited collection I showed the day before yesterday, I thought I would present Thakoon’s harmonic spring/summer 2013 collection which in my opinion had a bird theme. I thought this collection's dresses and outfits were dreamy with their different patterns and fabrics. I liked the color sceme of it: white, black, yellow and blue - all in complete harmony. I've always been fascinated with birds since they the remains of dinosaurs, flying among us. They delight us in spring with their song, and keep the most stubborns keep us company even during winter. I find birds to be always optimistic and quite encouragining as well.

Even though my favorite bird is the peacock, I thought it was nice that this time small birds, hummingbirds and such, had found their way to Thakoon's collection.

A woman in a red dress is the devil in disguise.

Helsinki, 13 degrees

Today again Helsinki experienced all kind of weather conditions: sun, clouds, rain, sun, hail and sun again - what's going on? Like I mentioned before, me and my sister opened up a flea market in the spirit of the Cleaning Day event that we have twice a year here in Helsinki. It went really well between 9am-2pm but unfortunately after that the heavy rain forced us to pack our things and run back to my sister's place. I sold about half of my stuff, and I had a lot of it, so I was really, really happy! It was such a fun day talking to random people, spotting Finnish fashion bloggers and enjoying a day with my sister!

I've been having a cold for some days now, so I was happy that I could participate in the Cleaning Day today. Thank God for tea and honey!

Today I want to share the dark and warm red tones that dominate the fall fashion.

Autumn

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.

This weekend has consisted of all kind of weather conditions: Helsinki has been sunny, cloudy, rainy and sunny again! But I guess it's only normal since we're going towards autumn. Yesterday I released the inner child in myself and put on all my water resistent clothing and went out to jump in puddles. Autumn feels like a cosy season, maybe even the cosiest of them all. I love fresh air, sweaters, scarves, rain boots, colorful leaves, cups of tea, you name it. Autumn, I embrace you with open arms!

Some time ago I spent a perfect day with some friends that I thought I would share with you. One of my friends study and works in Turku, a city two hours away from Helsinki, so when she arrived, we greeted her at the Central Railway Station in Helsinki with sign made especially in her honor.

After having dinner together, we ended up in India. Yeah, you read correctly. One of the bars, called Bhangra Bar, in my neighborhood has an Indian theme, and it actually feels like stepping into India when you're at that bar (no offense to all my Indian readers, I haven't actually been to India, so this is merely how I imagine India). The temperature is always perfect in this bar, and just look at the size of the cocktails! Incredible India!

How do you feel about autumn approaching?
